Photographing 200 Rodin bronzes for the 1000 page catalogue of Gerald B. Cantor’s collection at Stanford was challenging because the dark elegant patina posed the dilemma of capturing black on black. Careful almost dynamic lighting brought out the three dimensions of the sculptures in black and white 4x5 negatives, as well as defined both the textures and surfaces.
